depth knowledge of scientific and engineering principles to the development of prototypes and
products including optical mounts, motors, optical devices and laser systems.
In particular, the successful candidate will work closely with a small interdisciplinary and
international team to build and test a very high pulse energy femtosecond laser system. This
large scale contract will produce one of the highest peak power lasers ever developed. This
position will require you to translate raw ideas and concepts into detailed design and an
operating, reliable laser system. The successful candidate may elect to participate in a number of
international meetings with our partners in Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Design, fabricate, assemble, test, and troubleshoot components of various laser and electro-optic devices and systems.
Computational and analytical modeling and simulation.
Identify technical, schedule, and cost risks.
Work with vendors to procure required items for fabrication and assembly of products and prototypes.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Laser, Optical or Mechanical Engineering or
Chemistry/Physics, or similar discipline with four or more years of relevant experience. A
Master’s Degree or PhD associated with the development or use of laser and/or optical systems
may be substituted for relevant experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Four or more years of relevant experience with laser and/or optical components and systems.

Experience in documenting technical work, and results, analysis and presentation of data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Desired Experience
Experience with the development or use of femtosecond laser systems.
